North Carolina Medicaid: HealthChoice/CHIP alert

Update: Contact and questions section updated to reflect new chat services

Your patients with UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of North Carolina under North Carolina Healthchoice (NCHC)/Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) will transition to full Medicaid on April 1, 2023.

What this means for you

This means those patients will begin to have access to all Medicaid services that may have been previously excluded under the NCHC/CHIP plan.

The claims and prior authorization request process will remain the same for these patients as well. For more information on these processes, you can visit our claims page and prior authorization page.

New ID cards

We’ll be mailing new ID cards to these patients throughout the month of March, with an effective date of April 1, 2023.
