View the NOMNC determination and delivery

We have noticed a delay of deliveries for Notice of Medicare Non-Coverage (NOMNC) discharges, particularly when it aligns with a weekend patient discharge.

Please ensure delivery of NOMNCs occur timely and within the approved days outlined in the NOMNC. At times it’s appropriate for a discharge to occur over the weekend, and you should deliver all NOMNCs according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) guidelines. Please review sections 260 3.1-3.10.

Clinical reviews

To help ensure continuity of care through timely clinical reviews, we’re also requesting that skilled nursing facilities send clinical updates by 12 p.m. local time, on the date requested.

How this helps you and our members

This helps us make clinical-based decisions in a timely manner, expedites continued stay reviews and creates a smoother discharge transition process for you and our members.

Approaching the end of the stay, when the member no longer requires skilled services, please include the following information on the next review:

  • Discharge plan documentation
  • Documentation of caregiver training and/or maintenance plan
  • Updated goals (if applicable, and as required per Medicare Benefit Policy Manual Chapter 8, section 30.2.2.1)
