Provider data updates and attestation

Want to help secure accurate and timely payments? Verify your data.

If you're contracted with UnitedHealthcare, you're required to verify your demographic information every 90 days. There are a couple options to make updates, but you only need to use one of the following methods.

Self-service portals

CAQH Provider Data Portal

The CAQH Provider Data Portal allows you to access directory services and update profiles in real time. It’s a multi-payer solution, so any updates and attestations you make are available to all payers you’ve authorized.

My Practice Profile

Available in the UnitedHealthcare Provider Portal, My Practice Profile lets you verify and attest to the accuracy of data for each health care professional covered within a tax ID number (TIN).

Roster upload tools

CAQH Provider Data Portal for groups

Delegated groups can manage demographic roster submissions in the CAQH Provider Data Portal for Groups. When you manage a single standardized roster through CAQH, it shares all updates and attestations with participating CAQH health plans.

Why is data attestation so important?

Keeping your data accurate helps our members find you. Members most often search for care based on cultural competencies including:

  • Familiarity with member demographics
  • New patient acceptance
  • Office location
  • Specialized training and expertise
  • Services and treatments provided
MWM--testing alternative text. Will be removed.

What do I need to keep updated?

  • Phone number associated with the specific provider practice location
  • Accepting new patients
  • Office locations where the provider accepts appointments only
  • United States Postal Service (USPS) address at all locations, including suite, building number and handicap accessibility
  • Email
  • Affiliated group name
  • Office hours and website
  • Specialties and areas of expertise
  • Languages spoken and availability of oral interpretation services and written translation services
  • Certifications, affiliations and licenses
  • Telehealth services
  • Hospital affiliations
  • Cultural competency training participation

Area of expertise

Area of expertise designates unique experience, training and certifications and helps members identify in-network health care professionals best aligned with their needs. Sample indicators:

  • Working with hearing impaired populations
  • Caring for patients with HIV/AIDS
  • Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for substance abuse
  • OB/GYN with clinical focus in endometriosis and infertility

1.  In the medical directory choose your UnitedHealthcare contracted plan type and follow the instructions.

2. Type your name in the search bar, select your listing, click the “Area of Expertise” tab.

The Area of Expertise tab will NOT display if there are no indicators associated with your profile.

  • Submit a request through one of the attestation options above
  • Area(s) of expertise will be displayed in the directory based on provider TIN. If you are associated with more than one TIN, updates must be made to all profiles.
  • Groups, hospitals or facilities must provide areas of expertise using a roster template

Occasionally, we may add an area of expertise indicator to provider profiles based on historical claim data or expertise verification through a primary source.

For assistance, go to My Practice Profile or if you're in the Roster Management Program, reach out to your roster manager.

  • Full provider name
  • The area(s) of expertise you would like UnitedHealthcare to add, remove from or update in your profile
  • Your NPI and TIN
  • Reason for request
