Texas Medicaid: State medication and prior authorization updates

Effective Oct. 15, 2025, we’re adding new prior authorization requirements and updating our clinical criteria for certain medications to comply with recent state requirements. This applies to UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Texas CHIP, STAR, STAR Kids and STAR+PLUS plans.

Before prescribing these medications, please review this information to determine if you need to submit a prior authorization request or make note of the clinical criteria.
